Suicide Prevention Hotline Volunteer: Volunteer Opportunity, The Idaho suicide Prevention Hotline is being created by many partners in the community, and the call center will be up and running in mid-November. Idaho is currently the only state without a statewide, nationally certified hotline and has been since 2006; Idaho also has the 4th highest suicide rate in the country. In order to assist those in need, we are looking for volunteers to staff the call center. Initially, the hours will be from 9am-5pm, and transitioning to 24 hours during our second year. As a volunteer you will receive Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) which is a 2 day course that does count for CEUs. There will also be a one day training over special topics and another half day of training on general information and procedures. We are asking for a 4 hour per week commitment for one year. We will be having periodic information sessions if you are interested in volunteering. Please contact us for more details and a volunteer application.
